TGIF!!! Whether you’ve already got plans, or are simply planning on relaxing here are some weekend goodies around my neck of the woods that are totally worth checking out:
EXPERIENCE: Burlington’s Sound of Music (S.O.M.)
This weekend marks the annual Sound of Music festival in my hometown of Burlington and did I mention that it’s Canada’s largest FREE music festival?! This weekend is what really puts me in summer mode and I look forward to every year.
What’s it about? This entire weekend there are a ton of local and popular musical performers on the 4 stages with food trucks, a carnival and even some fireworks (on Saturday). To top it off, we always try to hit up Burlington Beach prior to get our tan on. I love being able to hear the music while being by the lake.
LISTEN: NXNE (aka North by Northeast)
This Toronto event is awesome! It’s seven days of 1000 band, 30 films, and 150 comedians and ends this weekend (June 10-16). There is always some great indie music. I’m hoping to check out Wintersleep and/or Paper Lions on Satuday. What are you thinking of hitting up? Be sure to check out the line up here and info about wristbands and such here.
SHOP: Dagg and Stacey Pop Up Shop
If you haven’t picked up on it in my prior post here, I am a huge fan of Toronto based label Dagg and Stacey. Not only are their clothes handmade, there are absolutely beautiful! I’ve got a few style posts coming up (including this weekend) to help convince you. Here’s the deets:
Sat June 15 2013 The Gladstone Hotel Art Bar 1214 Queen St West 10 am - 7 pm
Since my Dad never asks for anything, I’m always pro getting him a “doing gift” and this year W and I are planning a yummy BBQ for our famjam to celebrate our dads. Here are some recipes I’m hoping to try: Charred Mexican Zucchini by Joy the Baker, how to grill a hen (or chicken) from Chris Loves Julia, and for dessert a raspberry almond tart from M loves M
What are you up to this weekend?
