This Weekend: Birthdays, Markets, Music and Fast Cars

ENJOY THE OUTDOORS: Between the humidity and the rain, it’s been a tough week to really appreciate the outdoors. Don’t let that stop you this weekend! Grab a book, go for a picnic and check out some of the great green spaces you have around where you live.  The picture above was taken at Central Library gardens in Burlington by W. Dixon Photography.

CELEBRATE: Celebrate a summer birthday. July is quite a birthday celebration month for us and I love how many friends we get to see as a result! It’s like an annually planned social. This weekend we are headed over to celebrate two of my bestie’s Birthdays and I am so excited.  One may be familiar to you… it’s Angie from HashtagRandom. If you haven’t yet, be sure to check out all the DIY awesomeness that she’s been attempting and how she celebrates her day. Headed to a bday shindig and not sure how to wrap your gift? Check out my homemade gift wrap DIY here.

SHOP: The Junction Flea Market. I’m excited to hit up the Junction Flea for the first time on Sunday.  I’ve been hearing great things about the antiques, food and causal atmosphere.  I’m hoping to find some unique pieces to add to our decor. For some tips about flea markets/garage sales/trunk sales check out my post: Trunk Sale Blues.

MUSIC:
I love how many concerts and shows there are in the summer and this weekend is no exception! Depending on your taste in music you might have tickets for the Weezer show tonight at Downsview Park in Toronto, or the Great Big Sea show at Molson Amphitheatre  tomorrow. Or perhaps you’re headed to see Canadian Country Singer Glenn Groves in downtown Burlington tomorrow (11-2; FREE!), or a variety of performances at the Sound Clash Festival at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto (FREE!) this weekend. Whatever your musical fancy – enjoy!

EXPERIENCE: The Honda Indy in downtown Toronto from July 12-14th. Even if you’re not a car fanatic (like my W) the Honda Indy still makes for a fun day/weekend out.  It’s such a unique and exciting event to visit. This year, the event also includes a Craft Beer Fest from local breweries, free food and Food trucks (like Gorilla Cheese!) and even two wheeled events like a BMX stunt show. Tickets are available at a variety of price points and will be waved today if you make a donation to the Make A Wish Foundation. If you’re planning on watching close up don’t forget your earplugs!

Whatever your weekend plans are, I hope you have a good one!

  1. So many awesome things going on – glad you can squeeze in my birthday ;)!! Craft Beer Fest would have been cool to get to this weekend. PS – I want an update on how the trunk sale goes, I haven’t made it out to one, and I’m not sure what’s all about.
