This Weekend: Red Tags, Drive-Ins, festivals and music…

WATCH: a movie at your local drive-in! W and I hit up 5 Drive-In in Oakville this past Tuesday and I have to admit – the movie was way more fun watching it up on the big screen from our car. Check out my pic on my instagram here. The best part – you get to see two features for what you would be paying in the theatre and you can go with a bunch of your family or friends (AND PET!) and watch in lawn chairs outside. Other local drive-ins to check out: Starlite Drive-In (Stoney Creek), Polson Pier (in Toronto), and CanView Drive-In (St. Catherine’s).

SHOP: Downtown Burlington is hosting its annual Red Bag Sale that’s sure to tickle any shopper’s fancy, especially considering that the sale has also extended to many restaurants. Last year I purchased some bright place mats, and a modern light from Fairhome and spied some cute items at Joelle’s that I’m kicking myself for leaving behind. These shops are included in a long list of participating businesses. Look up the full list and details here.

EXPERIENCE: Hamilton Fringe Festival on from July 18th-July 28th. I haven’t been but it sounds like there are a ton of neat things to check out.

LISTEN: The Canadian band, The Trews, play an intimate show at the Burlington Performing Arts Centre as an extension of the Sound of Music Festival. I saw the Trews play at small venue in Hamilton a few years ago and I have to admit – it was one of the best performances I’ve seen. The band is energetic, engaging and talented. Buy tickets and access more information here.

EAT: If you like seafood and a show then be sure to hit up Joe Dog’s in Burlington on Monday for their Seafood Broil – Yum!
