“You called me up from a pay phone
I said hang tight, I can drive you home
I pulled on up and with a southern accent
I offered you my dad’s leather jacket”
– Arkells (from the song “Leather Jacket”)
For some reason the spring always makes me think back to my university days and that joyous moment when the feeling of spring truly arrives. It’s that day when the warm weather brings everyone outside, littering every sunny space with students studying, socializing and just hanging out. Winter hibernation officially ends.
This season, bright and soft neutrals have taken centre stage but there’s no reason to forget your favourite dark pieces. I’m playing the rebel and sticking to black and gray palettes, as I’m not quite ready to switch to lighter tones quite yet. But who knows… once that one warm day hits…
This outfit is a reflection of this period of flux we seem to be in – a mix of feelings, if you will. I’ve paired the classic tones of this vintage pleated wool skirt with an edgy leather jacket, coupled with a relaxed striped tee. The contrast between casual and dressy is apparent when comparing the pointed toe heels with a relaxed top. I think a bold red clutch would definitely make a great addition to this outfit too.
What palette and tones are you reaching for so far this season?
Here’s hoping your week is off to a great start all! Thanks so much for reading!
